Following a recent survey an estimated 100+ Cornish websites have been found to act as spam machines. The revelation is of a very high concern to all businesses that have a website.
The problem is caused by unsecure contact forms that produce emails from visitors' inputs. "There are a variety of mini programs that take what people type into a website and convert it to an email. This function can be used by spammers to send email to anyone around the world and in such a way that they are almost untraceable." said Toby Parkins of uknetweb.
Spam causes huge problems to businesses blocking up their mail servers. At the best it is annoying. At worse it can crash an entire business infrastructure causing loses that costs that increase by the minute.
uknetweb have dealt with this problem by producing a custom encoded contact form that automatically develops with time to prevent any one from being able to use it for spam.
