Yesterday’s virtual conference, Insight:Recession, highlighted local optimism in the face of growing fears that the UK economy is facing a recession.
The virtual event which took place on Tuesday (2nd September) featured a keynote speech from respected economist, and former Finance Cornwall Chief Executive, Lord Robin Teverson.
Guests at the event included a range of local business owners as well as Stephen Bohane, Head of Business Development in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly within The South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and Terrye Teverson, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Truro and Falmouth. A virtual party hosted over the internet by Cornish based web developers, UKNetWeb, attracted a crowd of around fifty people last week as they launched their new corporate website and a free guide to using emerging technology to survive a recession. (more…)

Two local companies celebrated the award of their ISO 9001 status last week by hosting an event for companies who want to learn more about what the ISO standards can do for their business.
Web development company, UKNetWeb, worked with data security and back up company, Forward ITC, to plan and deliver an event that cuts through all the noise to the bare business facts of gaining ISO accreditation. (more…)

South West based, UKNetWeb has just completed work on a DVD archive series for nationally acclaimed motor racing magazine, Motorsport.
The series of four disks archive and display all 480 complete magazines published between 1950 and 1989, covering nearly 40 years of motor racing history. (more…)

Two Cornish companies are to celebrate achieving ISO 9001 status by helping other businesses in the county get to grips with the reasons behind gaining the accreditation.
St.Agnes based, UKNetWeb, and neighbouring business, Forward ITC, both undertook the ISO 9001 accreditation process last year and will be presented with their certificates, marking completion of the application process, at a special event later this month.

A Cornish company has just completed work on a sophisticated web based flight booking system for a major national travel company after being recommended as one of the few companies in the country able to program this level of system.

The system built for Travel Smith Limited, based in the South East, required more than 400 hours of complex programming over a period of 6 months. This was needed to ensure that a range of back end systems could work together seamlessly to assist those booking holidays on the Channel Islands.

Local web development company, Uknetweb, is to expand with the acquisition of fellow St.Agnes based business, Galileo RM.
The business, previously owned and managed by Aren Grimshaw, will be incorporated into uknetweb as it moves to increase links between clients’ online and offline activities.

A local website company believes many local e-commerce store owners are putting both their business and customer’s security at risk through poorly constructed and secured websites.
In tests conducted by St.Agnes based, Uknetweb, serious security flaws were found in 2 out of 3 sites, despite them appearing to have well developed sites with proper safeguards against hackers and other criminals.

Local website development company, Uknetweb is celebrating success after one of their sites won a prestigious award at The British Media and Environmental Awards (BEMAS) held recently in Canary Wharf.
The site produced for Environmental campaign charity, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), beat off strong competition from the Telegraph’s Earth site and Green TV to win the category of Best Website 2007.
